20 FREE CULTURAL ACTIVITIES OVER THREE DAYS, MARCH 14 TO 16
ArtWeekend is one of Pasadena’s largest cultural events, attracting more than 20,000 people
Pasadena, Calif. -- Art lovers will experience a feast for the senses at Pasadena ArtWeekend, a three-day celebration of the visual and performing arts that encompasses a citywide arts open house ArtNight on Friday, March 14; ArtTalk, a tribute to the spoken word on Saturday, March 15, and ArtMarket, one of the largest outdoor exhibitions of works for sale by students in Southern California, on Sunday, March 16.
In all, attendees at Pasadena ArtWeekend can experience more than 20 exhibitions, performances and cultural activities over three days. All Pasadena ArtWeekend activities are free and open to the public.
ArtWeekend occurs at numerous locations throughout Pasadena, from the 13 cultural institutions participating in ArtNight (see list below), to the tribute to the spoken word in the Playhouse District, to the regional student art market in the One Colorado Courtyard. Thousands of art lovers are expected to attend these and other events, which bring together top-notch artists, unite nationally recognized cultural institutions and connect diverse communities with family friendly programs.

ArtNight, Friday, March 14th – 6 pm to 10 pm
Pasadena's cultural institutions will open their doors for free during ArtNight Pasadena, offering a rich sampling of art, artifacts and music.
Collaborating venues for this semi-annual event offering free shuttle service from institution to institution, are Armory Center for the Arts, Art Center College of Design -- Hillside, Boston Court Performing Arts Center, Norton Simon Museum, One Colorado, Pacific Asia Museum, Pasadena City College, Pasadena Jazz Institute, Pasadena Public Library -- Central Library, Pasadena Museum of California Art, Pasadena Museum of History, Pasadena Symphony @ Civic Auditorium and the Shumei Arts Council.
ArtNight is a multi-year partnership among these and other cultural institutions with the Cultural Affairs Division of the City of Pasadena offered every October and March. The event is sponsored in part by the Pasadena Arts & Culture Commission.
ArtTalk, Saturday, March 15th – 11 am to 5pm
ArtTalk represents a cross-section of artists exploring the spoken disciplines featuring cutting-edge word, performance and theater artists in this first-ever presentation of the living word in the Playhouse District. Performance genres range from hip hop poetry, to storytelling, recitations, poetry readings and theatre, as well as a film screening. This six hour event takes place at the Boston Court Performing Arts Center and at the Regency Academy Theatre.
Pasadena Art + Design Open Market, Sunday, March 16th– 10 am to 5 pm
Old Pasadena's most popular fine arts market focuses exclusively on work by students, faculty and alumni from Art Center College of Design and Pasadena City College.
Now in its fifth year, the Art Market is a great opportunity to find innovative productions by emerging artists, illustrators, ceramicists, and the next generation of environmental and industrial designers experimenting with different media. And, any purchases benefit 100% the artists and students directly.
The Art Market occurs in the alleys and Courtyard at One Colorado.
